Generation Workshop set for Oct. 25-26

NMPP Energy will host its annual Generation Workshop on Oct. 25-26 at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney, Neb.

The workshop is intended for member participants of the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN) and Nebraska Municipal Power Pool (NMPP) as well as personnel from non-member municipalities. Plant operators, maintenance personnel, utility superintendents and anyone working directly or indirectly with generation units are encouraged to attend. The workshop is free to MEAN member community employees/representatives, $150 to NMPP members and $200 to non-members.

The first day (Tuesday, Oct. 25) of the workshop will run from 1-5 p.m. and be followed with a social hour and dinner. Wednesday’s session (Oct. 26) will run from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and include lunch.

Workshop topics include:

  • Updating switchgear and proper manual operation of switchgear;
  • Permitting considerations for new Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE NESHAP) and replacing existing units;
  • Unit Operations and Maintenance;
  • Considerations when adding high-speed generating units;
  • Battery Operation and Maintenance, proper safety and storage;
  • Water treatment for closed loop and open loop systems; and
  • Cooling systems and heat exchangers.

Several workshop vendors will be on-hand to present and/or answer questions for attendees. Workshop vendors include:
